Hockey is in my blood—hell, it’s practically my birthright—but when an injury shattered my Olympic dream, I had no choice but to shift my ambitions. Now, instead of being a professional athlete, I work for them. In a world where a person can ruin their reputation in forty characters or less, it’s my job to keep my clients’ phones from being a weapon of mass destruction that decimates their careers.
Enter Luke Valentine, the NHL’s hottest, all-star defenseman, whose colossally stupid mistake has him and his team in hot water. They need me to help rebuild their reputation and I need them to boost my resume credentials for a promotion. I want to climb the corporate ladder, but my scorching hot attraction to Luke is getting in the way. With all eyes on me, I must resist temptation, but not mixing business with pleasure is hard as puck.
AVERY
Seven years ago, I walked away from the only man I’ve ever loved, believing I wasn’t the right woman for him. Ryan Gunner was my first everything, and he was supposed to be my last—until I broke his heart.
The imprint he left on me has never faded, and when Ryan is traded to The Toronto Northmen—the same team I work for—I vow to remain professional, even if he’s everything I’ve ever wanted. I’m not the woman who can give him the life we dreamed of sharing, and our love story is best left in the past.
RYAN
When my team asked me to waive my “No-Movement-Clause,” I agreed—on one condition. Trade me to The Toronto Northmen and send me home to the woman who’s always owned my heart: Emerson Avery. The past seven years have been torture. We’re meant to be together, and she can try to play the “just friends” card, but I’m not falling for it. Kissing her again proves that together we’re hot enough to melt ice. So why is she still fighting against us?
This time around, I'm in it to win it. If there's one thing I’ve learned skating on a pair of steel blades, chasing after a frozen piece of rubber, it’s that all is fair in love and hockey.
LILY
So there’s this guy…Isn’t there always? He happens to be my brother’s best friend. And, I know what you’re thinking. It’s always the older brother’s best friend. You’re not wrong, but I’ve known Chase Wilder since we were kids and we’ve always had a connection; an invisible string tying us together. Even when he went away to become a big NHL star and earned a reputation for being a lady’s man, our connection never faltered.
I’ve landed my dream job as team chef to the Toronto Northmen and Chase is finally starting to see me as the woman I’ve grown into. Not the little girl whose ponytail he used to pull.
But there’s also this other guy. He’s everything a girl could want in a love interest and more—except he’s not Chase.
CHASE
I know Lily Valentine has always had a crush on me. She’s always been my cheerleader, my biggest supporter, and loyal fan. But her brother is my best friend, and the number one rule of Bro Code is Don’t touch your best friend’s little sister. I won’t lie, a part of me is drawn to Lily and her effervescent, unlimited optimism. She’s been a light in my very dark past, and I don’t want to be the guy who casts a shadow over the brightest thing in the room. I know I’m not good enough for a woman like Lily and if she ever found out about the things I’ve done, she’d hate me forever.
RILEY
For my entire life, I’ve always been the lone wolf—the person who happily flies solo. If I want something done, I do it myself. I can support myself with my own money, forge my own path, and make myself happy. When it comes to one-night stands, I'm the queen of love 'em and leave 'em. I’ve never needed anyone, and love is not on my radar. I have no interest in being a plus-one, and I certainly never wanted a family of my own after my parents failed so spectacularly. But then Ozzy Decker breezes into my life and changes the game. He’s persistent, funny, kind, and caring. When we hook up at a friend’s wedding, I tell him I only want a friends-with-benefits arrangement. But life throws us a curveball and everything I thought I wanted for myself is turned on its head. I always thought I could outrun love, but when love looks like Ozzy Decker, it hits like a cross-check straight to the heart.
OZZY
When I first saw Riley Winters, I knew she was different. She’s strong-willed, guarded, and only wants me for a good time, not a long time. On the outside, I’m the poster boy for free, single, and ready to mingle, but on the inside, I’m tired of the game. Riley makes me feel things I’ve never felt before and want things I only imagined in a faraway future. She’s made it abundantly clear that a relationship isn’t on the table. But I can play the long game, because if there’s one thing I excel at, it’s fighting for the things I love most. If Riley gives me a chance, I know I can convince her we could be endgame, and that I’m not just a flirty pucker.

I'm a teacher living near Toronto, Canada. I have a Master’s Degree in Sports Journalism, but after a few years in the industry, decided I enjoyed writing about fictional hockey players more than real ones. I am a passionate hockey fan who sometimes gets a little too emotionally invested in my team’s wins and losses. I'm a huge Swiftie who spends far too much time sweating on my Peloton to the 1989 and Reputation albums, because I can’t sit still for more than a few minutes—unless it’s to write my next book.

This is a fast-paced, ice hockey romance where the FMC is hilarious and the MMC is everything you want out of book boyfriend. A forbidden romance with plenty of humour, relatable characters and swoon worthy dialogue. This is my first ice hockey based romance and I loved it.
I honestly don’t know where to begin , I read lucky pucker & it was amazing!!! But then I picked up sweet pucker and oh my gosh! I fell inlove with the book and the characters! You could feel the love/hate Avery had for Ryan but could feel the love Ryan had for Avery !!! I got goosebumps reading this ! If I could give this a 10 star rating I would ! I’m addicted to this book!.

Right from page one, Hilary's words wrap around the reader like a big comfy Canadian Bay blanket. It was very refreshing to FINALLY read a hockey romance that the author actually has an understanding of the sport of hockey. *details do indeed matter!!*

With every book it just keeps getting so much better!! This one had to be my favorite so far. Hilary really knows how to draw someone into the story. I found this book so hard to put down! I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I will be getting paperbacks of this series to add to my shelves!!

OMG! I just love everything about this book. from the plot to the characters, just everything! I love Luke and Holly's connection so much and how they were able to get through all the obstacles that try to keep them apart… Definitely a 5 ⭐️ read and an amazing first read for the year.

Wow, this book and the entire series will forever have a special place in my heart. Hillary, your writing blows me away every time and you are officially one of my favourite authors🫶🥰
This was a fast paced, fun and sexy read. As an Australian, I have next to no understanding of hockey, but after reading this, all I can say is I am now a HUGE fan!
Where can I get me a Luke Valentine?! Holy hell he was sexy and sweet and goddamn perfect! The way he loved and cherished Holly was swoon-worthy. Holly was sassy and awkward and so much fun, you can’t help but fall in love with her. I’m blown away by this debut novel by Hilary and I can’t wait to read more about the Toronto Northmen…I wonder if I can convince my husband to move to Canada?!

This story had me hooked and I truly loved it. I love Riley and Ozzy as a couple and it was sweet to see how much Riley began looking forward to being a mother.

Hilary Rose hit it out of the park here! If you’re someone who wants to read Hockey romance written by someone who KNOWS hockey? This is the book, people! Hilary’s knowledge of the game and insane way of making you love every single character just pushes this book right to the top! Holly and Luke were the absolute sweetest! And I simply cannot wait to find out what’s in store for Avery and Ryan… and Lily and Chase! Give me all the puckers!!
